I target members of any cult. I don't see the cult I was born into as being deserving of any special consideration.

I'm with Outlaw on this one LouBelle.
If you're here looking for advice on what to discuss or how to handle him, you should not be talking to him at all. If you can't control the conversation, just don't let them start one in the first place.
He is not your friend.
He has nothing of value to offer you that you can't get elsewhere.
If you must talk to a JW, never let them choose the subject. Quickly turn he conversation to a subject you know they are familiar with, but that they will be uncomfortable with, and hammer them on that. Do not answer their questions, they are there to answer yours, tell them that. The more they want to trick you into a change from a particular subject, the more you need to stay on it. Don't express your own opinions, just use questions to make them do the talking and lead them to making conclusions that they didn't want to come to and to indulge in behaviours that they would condemn if a member of another church used them. Use guilt when they try any tricks, dishonesty, double standards, or bullying, and feign being offended that they would try to treat you like a fool etc..

Do athiests believe it's possible that aliens, not all powerful God created man?
by EndofMysteries ini've sort of mentioned this as a different possibility in response to other threads but i was curious if any of you athiests all think that life just evolved on this earth from single cell organisms or if you ever thought it's possible that intelligent life long ago w/ advanced science could have made humans and much of life on earth and just dumped it here or made it here.
.
i'm not making this thread to debate, i am just curious if any of you have come up with other ideas on your own as possibilities since all we have for the origin of life are just theories right now.

Even if someone could prove there was some kind of creator dude wafting around in the ether, it wouldn't mean that it was the one described in any particular culture's literature or folklore, or that it might give a stuff what you do when the lights are out.
Beliefs aren't just either/or, black/white, if not what you think/then what you think must be the alternative.
You don't have to try to assume/assert what people must/must not, believe if they are not your followers or leaders.
It's ok to not know.
It's ok to not have an answer to every question every twit asks.
It's ok to get on with your life without caring what BS is being spouted by people with imaginary friends.
It's ok to evaluate a question before you attempt to answer it.
It's ok to call into question all of the ideas that have been preconceived for you by your parents/culture/cult/peers etc., and admit to yourself and your peers that because you've been scammed by a high control cult, you know bugger all that can can be trusted and have to start over.

Atheists, here is a 'balls' question ---even for all---
by prologos init is very difficult to knock a ball into a hole (like golf), throw it into a receiver's hands (american football) intercept it and knock it over the fence (american cricket).
or to put a sattelite at the right time at the right speed in the right direction in the right place to have it orbit another body, so :.
what ingenious natural & process is it, than can get 9+ zillions bodies to get into the right orbit simultaniously or sequentially and have them remain there for billions of years?

Order is chaos. Right now a galaxy is crashing through a group of other galaxies. Is that what you consider is 'order'?

Make your JW expand on it. Especially try to get him to take positions that you can use to embarras him in the future.

Husband addressed himself as "Used to be a JW"
by UBM101 inwhen asked about his religion & belief, he would tell people that his family are jws, and he used to be one.
but still he is very much against christmas and birthdays.
he seems to have no issue with new year.

Until such time as he realises that he has been scammed by the WT, he is damaged goods. I hope you two don't have any kids yet.
There are no quick fixes for his condition. He has to confront his demons and he doesn't want to do that, and you probably don't have the skills to make him do it. All I can suggest is to keep asking him questions, then not letting him weasel his way out of answering them honestly and giving him a guilt trip for any bullying, or dishonesty, that he uses on you to fool you into accepting crap answers or diversions.

Guilt mode. STFU mode. Damage control mode.
He is a true believer dealing with the fear, guilt etc., of not being a practicing, preaching witness of Jehovah, which means that Jehovah is going to kill him quite soon ... and then his problems will be over
.... suicide with an imaginary gun.

Do You Honestly Believe That You Would Have Officially Left The JW Religion If They Didn't Shun You?
by minimus ini left as an inactive person.
i pretty much have been left alone by the elders and witnesses, as far as being hounded.. i know of many that either disassociated or got disfellowshipped.. i'm wondering if you think you would have remained a jw, in name only, if the religion (cult) didn't shun and penalize as they do..

Their shunning policy was one of the reasons I never got baptized.
